Ready for 2015

Is it too early to make end of the year blog posts? Good news is, I don't care.

Just going to go ahead and say that Out of the Woods by T-Swift is the anthem for this last year of pharmacy school. No lie, I've listened to that song a couple times recently and gotten highly emotional. IDGAF about 2015 except that it's the year that Brendon Hogan graduates. IT'S THE YEAR HE GRADUATES. This is a big thing. I have no idea what that will mean for us and our future, but ohmygod I cannot wait. There's a lot of uncertainty ahead of us. Eerily similar to this same time at the close of 2010, when we had no idea what was ahead of us. Pharmacy school? And if so where? Turned out pretty good though. Not knowing where you're going to live in the next 6 months is unsettling, but also exciting. No matter what happens, life will be different. And I'm ready.

2014 felt like the year of getting ready. The year of waiting. Calm before the storm? Too lofty? Regardless, I spent most of the year pacing. Feeling restless. Waiting. Ready to start our life. Which sounds harsh, because even in pharmacy school life has been reeeeeally good (and also reeeeeally challenging), but you know what I mean. Like really start life. Life without school, which is something we have never experienced. I am very curious about this life. I think it will be good. Very good. Not only does it mean a huge stress off Dr. Hogan's adorable shoulders, it also means TWO INCOMES THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. No matter what happens, we will no longer be living off of my income alone. Although don't get me wrong, I do not mind supporting both of us financially and I enjoy it. I'm proud that I can, in an "I don't need no man, I can float myself AND a man" kinda way. (THAT deserves a lofty post of its own). But knowing that there will be an additional income soon... y'all, that makes me giddy. Do I sound materialistic? Shallow? I don't care, at all. Life with two incomes will be something fantastic, I know it. I will be able to breathe a little. Just a little.

But truly you guys, aside from the one teensie little thing of Brendon finally graduating, doesn't two-thousand-and-fifteen sound magnificent? It's there something grand about it? I'm sure I'm loading that number with all kinds of feelings and ideals considering the two paragraphs written previously, but doesn't it sound exciting? I think it brings good things to everyone. Not just the Hogans. I'm hoping. I'm hoping it brings change of the good variety to many. I feel a general vibe of things leading up to something, not just in my life. And maybe this is the year. Or maybe not. We'll see. Life is what you make it, so let's try to make it a good one.

Cheers, 2015. You sound like a winner.

The video you've all been waiting for

Here it is. Mr. Hogan, busting a move on stage at the Mr. PharmD pageant. Also featuring, my annoying laugh! My husband has some sweet moves and is excellent at being super awkward. Hip thrusts all day.

You're welcome.

Mr. PharmD

Saturday night Brendon was a contestant in a beauty pageant. Kinda.

Every year the University of Texas College of Pharmacy holds a Mr. PharmD contest for the future men in pharmacy to strut their stuff on stage and battle it out for a crown. Of course, Brendon wanted in on that action. So boom, we had us a pageant to prepare for. There were four parts to the thing, an introduction with an escort (yours truly, I walked on a stage and didn't fall), "cultural wear", talent, and a health platform speech. It was actually a lot of fun and really entertaining. There were only four contestants so it wasn't super long, and they were all great!

Ahem, look familiar? He definitely was grooving to the chicken dance.

The talent portion. OH IT WAS THE BEST. Everyone's was so good. Brendon did the Napoleon Dynamite dance, and he did it perfectly. I was so proud. We practiced a bunch and he knocked it out of the park. I was laughing so hard I cried. There is video and as soon as I figure out how to put it on youtube, I will share. It was brilliant and hilarious.

Brendon's health platform was obesity. Did you know that hunk up there has lost 60 pounds since high school? And still counting! He has worked so hard and it has seriously paid off. He's the healthiest dude I know!

Although Brendon was a rockstar, he didn't get that crown. The guy who did was awesome, so it's okay. Brendon will always be my Mr. PharmD.

And here I am! Proof that I was there! Too bad we don't have documentation of my brief stint on stage, showing Brendon off. That will  probably never happen again! As much as I envy and aspire to be one of those Glee kids, stages aren't in my future. Brendon on the other hand, apparently that's another story.

Missing

I missed the first day of fall. It was Saturday and it blew by without any recognition from yours truly. Not that it really feels like fall. We've still been hitting the 90's, which is a lot of fun in a car that has working ac about half the time. But regardless, the first day of fall doesn't usually slip by me, as it is the official start to my favorite time of the year.

The past week has been a hectic whirlwind and most of it hasn't been much fun. Nothing went according to plan and I am tired and frustrated. I haven't seen Brendon for more than an hour or so in a few days. It's full on pharmacy school mode over here, which always sucks. I thought I would be tougher this time around, but it's still so hard. I miss my husband. Pharmacy school plus conflicting schedules equals no bueno. I've been a grumpy baby lately and I feel terrible about it. That is the worst way to handle things but I just want to stomp and pout and get what I want already. Because I'm obviously five years old.

BUT (silver lining, y'all) it is fall now. The best time of the year. Soon we'll be putting up Halloween decor, carving pumpkins, and baking loaves of banana bread (because it makes your house smell better than the fanciest fall scented candle). This week was just a rough week and all will be well soon enough. It is Monday after all, and this coming week will be better. I promise.

Steak and Summer

Broiled stuffed flank steak and zucchini with a lemon yogurt sauce. Dinner has been fancy at the Hogans' lately.

I swear I don't just eat all the time, contrary to what my blog lately would lead one to believe. I guess because I've had so little free time, and we have to eat, I've been throwing all my creative efforts into cooking. I have to let it out somehow. The result is, we've been eating like royalty. We've made some damn good food lately.

This latest culinary expedition was SO GOOD. Like fancy restaurant good. This is really the first time we had broiled anything, and we totally set the smoke alarm off while broiling the steak. I'm pretty sure I saw some of the kitchen twine give off a tiny burst of flame at one point. But smokey apartment aside, it was delicious and the steak cooked perfectly. We broiled the zucchini as well. I was seriously amazed at how well broiling cooked everything and how fast it was. Fast is good in my book, less time on your feet.

So in other news, concerning my life outside of the kitchen, summer is basically over for the Hogans. Brendon's first day back to pharmacy school was yesterday. Whomp, whomp, whomp. But, what a wonderful summer we had! Possibly my favorite summer in my young life so far. We more than made up for the lameness that was the summer of 2011. And though I am a little bummed about Brendon being back in school, fall is such a wonderful time of the year it doesn't seem so bad. The weather is cooling down already and I have visions of pumpkins and holiday goodness in my head. Fall brings so many good things, even the big dark cloud that is pharmacy school can't bring me down! Though I may be singing a different tune once school steals my husband away for real. It's still the first week so we aren't in full out pharmacy mode yet. I have high hopes though. This is our second year so we're more prepared, older and wiser (HA)! One more semester down and then it will be like summer time all the time! Just work and play. What a relief it will be to not have school in our lives for the first time, ever.

But in the mean time, I'm trying to enjoy these days. Enjoy Brendon's first days of school, hanging out with our phriends (see what I did there?), pretending I'm a UT student and lurking around campus. As stressful as these times may be, I'm sure we'll look back on them with fond memories. Plus, I've taken to thinking of the UT College of Pharmacy as the UT School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (with a focus on potions) and obviously that makes it a hell of a lot cooler and more bearable. I did marry a Harry Potter look alike after all.

Gone country, kinda.

The other night I went with Brendon to the University of Texas American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (long enough name?) end of year banquet at this cool German/bbq place called Scholz Garten. Apparently it is the oldest business in Texas! Felt like New Braunfels up in there! They had a beautiful solid carved wood bar. It was pretty awesome. We plan on going back!

The banquet was "western" themed, so we dressed up! I love dressing up. Why are there not more theme parties?

Like our half-assed country outfits? Brendon is definitely wearing Sperrys and I did the UT-soriority-girl thing and wore boots with a skirt. Although we both are native Texans and grew up in the woods, neither of us are very "country". But we had fun pretending! Also I am so pale, I am pink.

The banquet was pretty fun. I always feel like the odd lady out at these functions, the only non-genius in the room (jk y'all, we all know I'm a genius), but I still had a good time. It's fun getting to know all the other pharmacy students. Plus the food was great and I got to see Brendon receive awards! I was so proud!

What a cutie! Seriously, I am very proud of this man. He is about to start his final exams and is wrapping up his first year of pharmacy school! This dude is a rockstar. There is nothing he can't do and I can't wait to watch him kick ass and take names forever.

Our lives this week will be filled with studying for finals and working like crazy. Obviously you can guess who will be doing which. But this time next week we will be DONE with the first year and it will be summer vacation. Hallelujah! Just work and play and lots of husband and wife time!

Breaking news in the Hogan world

Two posts in one day? What the heck? I know, I know, I out-do myself. This is just big news, and it has to be shared.

For Brendon's pharmacy program at UT, there is a decent chance that you complete your third and fourth, or just forth, year(s) in another city (such as San Antonio, DFW, Houston, El Paso, etc). There aren't enough places here in Austin for everyone to complete their rotations or something. To decide who goes where, they basically have a lottery set up where you rank your first four choices of cities and some computer system generates a ranking system randomly and they match you up with a city. They higher number you get, the better the odds of getting your first choice. So, kinda scary. I hear they do this kind of thing with med school too.

We picked (in order of preference), Austin, DFW, San Antonio, and then I think Houston. Usually most people get their first or second choice. Picking DFW over San Antonio as our second choice was a big decision. We love being close to family, but we also loved living up north. So for various reasons (it was an insanely stressful decision and I had anxiety for hours about it) we chose DFW as our second option.

But none of that matters because we got Austin! We got our first pick! I am so relieved. Since Brendon put in our choices a week or so ago (and really since I found out we might have to move again), I had been stressing out about it, it was always in the back of my mind nagging at me. It was like before Brendon got into pharmacy school and we had no idea where we were going to live in a few months time. But now we know we're here for good! Or at least 3 more years. Part of me is a little sad, moving back up north would have brought me closer to a lot of my friends and I truly loved living up there. But Austin is becoming more and more our home and being here near family is beyond wonderful. We are lucky ducks and I am grateful.

Boom goes the dynamite, there's that. One big weight lifted off my mind. Sorry Austin, you're stuck with us for a while!

Life and that one time we went to Vegas

Life lately has been a blur! Time is flying and I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day. I have been a busy bee at work and Brendon is in the midst of a week of tests every single day. All this week (and it will continue until Friday) we have seen each other for about two hours before bed and that's it. Enough time for a quick recap of our days and a thrown together late dinner. Then usually I pass out and Brendon studies. Last night, because I was being a grumpy goose, Brendon asked if "I hated my life". Not a serious question, but I know he was only half kidding. Obviously this situation is way less than ideal.

And although this past week has been rough on us both and we rarely see each other, I love love love my life (which I always tell him). I am tired and I miss my husband, but I am happy. I love my job. I love that Brendon is in pharmacy school (figuratively). I love the life we have here. We are where we had always wanted to be, and things are good. Pharmacy school sucks the big one, there's no getting around that. But we are already over halfway through the semester, almost done with the first year! And then it will be summer time and we will have 3 months to relax and play husband and wife again. And even though the school year is rough (poor Brendon, I am so proud of you for being such a hardworking badass) we squeeze in some pretty good times. It's just weeks like this that are hard (and this semester is extra stupid because instead of spreading the tests out over the semester, they have tests in all their classes at the same time every couple weeks, DUMB). They're just tiny speed bumps on our little adventure.

So I apologize to Brendon and anyone else that may think that I "hate my life", because I certainly do not. I am a happy little camper who just gets grumpy every now and then.

And on that note, let's take a look at a happy and carefree time in our lives. The summer of 2009 after we both turned 21 we went to Vegas and we loved it. Not only is the weather aaamazing for your hair (but bad for your lips, mine were chapped for a week afterwards), Vegas is a wonderfully weird place. It is luxurious and fancy, but at the same time cheap and over the top tacky. We spent the majority of our time walking around and just looking. Looking at the hotels, the casinos, and of course, they lovely endless supply of interesting people. Prime area for people watching.

We stayed at the Paris Las Vegas, and it was awesome. Eiffel Tower in your hotel? Yes please!

The view from the top! They were in the midst of building another complex of hotels next to the Bellagio, I think it's like the Cosmopolitan and stuff? It was crazy big, I'd like to see it now that it's finished. The craziest part about Vegas is how insane these hotels are. Each one is like a maze of casinos, restaurants, shops, and clubs. And a lot of them connect to one another, sometimes underground! It's easy to get lost, which I guess is their plan. Get lost and spend money! And you really do lose track of time there. We would go to eat dinner and it would be midnight. And even though we pretty much always had a drink in our hand, I never felt drunk (this may be because our idea of drinking was far different than most newly-21-year-old's). Or hungover. Or tired. Something in the air there makes you feel just A-okay.

I love all the crazy hotels! All the lights and attractions! They are all ridiculous. We tried to explore each one, but I'd say we hit up a little more than half of them. Obviously we need to go back! We did get to ride the roller coaster at New York, New York though! I thought I was going to die. But it was a fun, although terrifying, quick, blurry, and often upside down view of Vegas at night.

Look at these youngins! How touristy can you get huh?

Zoos in hotels? Totally normal.

We have to take a moment now and talk about that drink in sweet Brendon's hands. The "skull cup" as we named it. It was a $15 drink from Treasure Island that came in a plastic mug shaped like a skull. Brendon wanted it just for the cup, so I got it for him. If I remember correctly the drink was pretty gross. I think you could get whatever you wanted in it, and I think that's a daiquiri? So after Brendon got his beloved cup, we stopped at some casino and threw money at the slots (we, or at least I, have no luck in gambling at all). And Brendon set his cup down next to his machine. And left it there. A few hotels down the strip he realizes he lost his cup. We go back, but of course it was gone. Enter pouty sad face Brendon. So that night we go back down to Treasure Island (which is waaay down the strip from our hotel) and I buy him another $15 mug full of gross drink.

Round two with a margarita and a happy Brendon.

We still have the skull cup and I have to say it was worth the $30. It's a bad ass cup to drink anything out of (usually water) and we still use it all the time. Plus we have the lovely memories of Brendon losing the cup and being a big ol' baby in Vegas. Love that man-child.

We look 17. No wonder we got carded 8,000 times.

I loved the fountains in front of the Bellagio. Our hotel was right across the street so we got to see them quite a few times (sorry Brendon) and it never got old, for me anyway. My favorite was when they... sprayed? went off? whatever-ed to "Your Song" by Elton John. I love that song. I think we played it at our wedding.

I can't wait to go back to Vegas. It really is an escape from reality into a ridiculous land of money and cheap thrills. Brendon was talking about it last night (giving me the inspiration for this post) and said we should go after he graduates pharmacy school. I say, deal. We'll see you in 2015 Vegas! Please keep your souvenir cups out of sight.

Here we go again

Dang how serious/sad/someone-pooed-in-my-cereal do I look in that picture? I was focusing on capturing Greggo's cuteness, I swear I'm not pouting. Okay maybe I was a little...

Beeeecause Mr. H went back to pharmacy school yesterday. BOO. Once again, the craziness begins. The break flew by too quickly. And unfortunately due to conflicting work schedules, we hardly saw each other. The last three days before he went back to school I didn't see him all day until I came home from work late at night. We'd hang out on the couch for a bit and then go to sleep and start it all over again. I cannot wait until that man graduates. This chaos is too much, I miss my husband.

But I am optimistic about this next semester. Since this is round two, we know what to expect. It will be rough, but it will also fly by. And then summer will be here! And then just three more years and he will be done, done, done and we can continue on with our lives! Can you tell I am counting down the days?

But in the mean time, my cats are keeping me company. Greg is basically in my face and Sophie is in my lap. Sweet babies, what would we do without them? And I need to get back into the creative swing of things! I can't remember the last time I made something pretty! I have been seriously slacking in that department. I have a hobby lobby gift card with my name on it and all kinds of pretty dress patterns. I think it's about time to sew something lovely!

This is going to be lame.

Let's be real, not everyday is rainbows and sunshine (although some are). This week has been rough, so let me just let some nonsense out. Feel free to skip this post and wait for the next, I promise it will be something happy and pretty and full of sunshiney goodness.

Pharmacy school is hard. It is hard for Brendon and hard for me (obviously much harder for him, but still). Brendon spends about 70% of his waking hours at school and when he's home he's studying. I get to steal him away for meal times (when we have them together) and he occasionally can watch a movie with me. Even when he's trying to relax, I can see the wheels a-churnin' and him worrying about what he should be studying for. This is just how it is. Although I try work as much as I can (you know I need that cash money), I spend a lot, A LOT, of time alone. I enjoy spending time on my own, probably more than most people. It's relaxing and I get to work on all kinds of projects and churn out all sorts of pretty things. And making pretty things is seriously my goal in life and if I'm doing that I'm pretty happy. But, sometimes I get a little down. I miss my husband. I miss hanging out and being silly. I miss playing board games and spending whole nights glued to the couch together. I miss our hour long (because we always get off topic) conversations about what we should do that evening or what we should have for dinner. I miss going to bed together at night and not falling asleep alone. Mostly I miss my unstressed Brendon. I want to be able to help, but I can't. I can't studying for him, I can't do his homework. I want him to be able to relax. Pharmacy school is a 24 hour a day job. He spends most of his days during the week on campus, for instance today he got there at who knows when, maybe 8 something this morning? And he'll probably be done at 9 tonight. And then he works on the weekends because he's crazy. He lives and breathes pharmacy right now and I seriously could not be prouder. He is the hardest working person I have ever met. I could not do what he is doing right now. And even though this is rough, it will be worth it. Brendon is getting to do what he has always dreamed and everyday I am thankful for that. He is going to be an incredible pharmacist. We are very very lucky to be here doing this. And winter break is right around the corner and I will be able to steal him away for a good month.

And because the last thing Brendon needs is a pouty wife to deal with, I try to focus on the good things, like the holidays! And the fact that it feels like fall outside and it is wonderful! And that I get to come home everyday smelling like an espresso bean. And that my family is just a short drive away. And that my cats are ridiculous. And that Brendon is adorable. And that we are where we've wanted to be for years. AND that time is flying. Can you believe it is almost November?? Where did October go??

So I apologize for the whomp-whomp-ness of this post. Sometimes I just miss my previous life of ease and simplicity and become a whiney baby. But I make lame blog posts to make myself feel better and move on with my life. I am going to go embroider something now and continue making the world, or my apartment, a prettier place. Back to sunshine and rainbows y'all!

Happy Birthday AJ!

Yesterday was my little brother-in-law's 10th birthday! Congrats Mr. AJ, you're into the double digits! I can't believe he's TEN. When Brendon and I first started dating he was only 4 years old! He's grown up into such a sweet and handsome young man. I seriously think he might beat his brother out on height, he's going to be tall.

AJ had the coolest birthday party ever. He had it at Jellystone Park (like Yogi bear-ed out) out in Canyon Lake. It was a pretty cool place! They have a game room, a bounce pad, pools, a playground, these peddle go-cart things, and lots of space to run around. I'm pretty sure everyone had a blast, including the adults! It was a refreshing little escape from life and wonderful to hang out with family for a day.

 Cutest brothers ever.

 Hangin' out with Yogi

Riding around on the peddle carts! Those things were pretty neat, but a lot of work to get up hills when you're as lazy as I am. Brendon and I rode around on a two-seater and he definitely did the brunt of the peddling.

It was really a great day and we were sad to have to head back to Austin and real life. I'm ready for Brendon to be on Christmas break. Pharmacy school is rough! Brendon is working so hard, I feel like he never gets a chance to relax. On top of studying like crazy constantly there's always extra things he has to go do for school. He'll be at school from 9-6:30 and then he comes home, I force him to eat dinner, and then he studies until who knows when (I'm a weenie and go to bed before he does).  And then he works on the weekends! I think he's going to start only working one day a weekend every other weekend so he'll have a day off to breathe. I wish I could help him out! Unfortunately all I really do is distract him. Poo on you pharmacy school, you better go by quickly. I miss hanging out with my husband. BUT, it will be worth it and four years from now we'll be laughing about these days and how ridiculous they were and how glad we are that we got through them.

Tailgatin'

Today for work I got to tailgate at the UT game and give out frosty samples of our ice blendeds. It was fun! It was very hot, but there was this wicked breeze and luckily we were in the shade. Traffic wasn't nearly as bad as I thought either. It was a little nuts at a couple points (people just walk down the middle of the street, apparently UT fans are not afraid of being hit by cars), but really much better than I imagined. It was a neat experience, there were soooo many people there. It was like a Cowboy's game or something. Probably even crazier. I want actually go in and watch a game sometime. We drove by the stadium and it looks so intense all filled up. Even my little cynical self was feeling some team spirit.

So to counteract my desire to attend a football game, let's talk about something that irks me about UT. From my short time working by campus, from what I've gathered via Brendon, and my tailgating experience today, I've come to a conclusion about UT students: everyone likes to match. Dressing the same is a "thing" at UT, like an unofficial dress code. Girls and boys are both guilty of this, but girls do the bulk of it. The most interesting matching phenomenons are: cowboy boots and shorts/skirts/dresses and the nike running shorts with baggy t-shirts. I encountered the former today for the first time and was pretty astounded. I think it must be a football game thing because almost every single girl was sporting cowboy boots. Don't get me wrong, I love me some cowboy boots every now and then, but it was super hot and all these girls are wearing boots. With shorts/dresses. And walking long distances too. Their feet must hate them afterwards. And everyone has these burnt orange t-shirt material dresses (some of which are not cute, some aren't too bad). Matchy, matchy, matchy. And the nike running shorts baggy t-shirt combo is my biggest pet peeve. It drives me crazy. Sooo many girls wear this everyday on campus. I will see seriously like 8 of them walking together and all wearing the same thing in different color variations. Do they realize they're all dressed the same? You know those girls don't run. And it is not a flattering ensemble. Plus those shorts are not cheap, how can they afford so many pairs?? (daddy's money) I could go on for years about how much this bugs me and how silly it is. It makes no sense.

Buuut, I guess I can't really talk because I basically live in the same four sundresses, denim shorts, and v-neck t-shirts. We all could use with a little mixing up of our wardrobes. But at least I'm not trying to coordinate with my amigos. I think that went out of style in 2nd grade.

Last night Brendon tried to teach me some pharmacy school stuff. He was drawing amino acid formulas and trying to get me to guess them. What? I barely even know what an amino acid is. He's so smart it scares me sometimes.

Sorry for the lack of pictures lately, I've been a lazy blogger. I've just been such a sleepy head this past week. All I think about is sleeping. Mmmm my bed sounds like a good place to be right now.

Pharm life

How cute are these shelves/cabinets in the pharmacy building at UT? This beauty is just chillin' in the hallway between classrooms and offices. There are tons of old shelves and displays like these around the building, this is the biggest I've seen. They have all kinds of old apothecary jars and such all over them and are made out of the most beautiful wood. I love it! They started the pharmacy school in 1893, so neat! It is ranked as the 4th best pharmacy school in the nation by some important source, but I forgot who. Newsweek? I donno. Obviously I am living vicariously through Brendon and am pretending that I am also a student at UT. We went to a mixer thingy tonight and I got to meet some of his many friends he's already made. They are all so sweet! He knows everyone, he's such a charmer.

I am sleepy. I am tired. I am worn out. I've been having some (understatement) health issues. I'm not going to go into it (if you know me well enough you're aware of most of it) but I've been having stomach pain problems for the past few years. And today was the worst it's ever been. It's getting to the point where it is GREATLY effecting my quality of life so I guess it's time to see a doctor again. Hopefully this time it will be a bit more successful and less expensive. I seriously dislike doctors. Pharmacists are much better.

White coated!

My sweet husband is now officially in pharmacy school! He received his white coat yesterday. Our families and I went to a family orientation beforehand. It was incredibly informative, and all I can say is he has his work cut out for him! These next four years are not going to be easy, but I have no doubt he will be successful and I'll be here by his side for tons of support.

I love this man so much. After we got home last night after all the festivities he surprised me with a trip to the spa to get a mani-pedi. What?! Presents for me when he's the one working so hard and being a badass on the daily?? How did I land this fantastic man? I do not deserve him but I am so glad I've got him and I'm never letting go. LOVE LOVE LOVE him. We've been apart all day, for the longest time in a while, I worked at 5:30 this morning and he wont be done with school stuff until 10 tonight. So today I'm having a girls day. After I got off work I took a nice little nap, then went to get my nails did, stopped by sonic to get a yummy blue powerade, came home and made myself some pasta, and am now curled up on the couch watching the Sound of Music with a beer. Pretty good day if you ask me! Brendon is definitely missing out.

So while I was at the spa today the lady doing my nails saw my rings and says, "Oh! You married?! I thought you very young!" I laughed and told her I am pretty young and that I'm 23. She then says, "Oh I thought you like 17!". Say what girlfriend? I enjoy looking young and all but 17? Jeeze. I'm sure I'd love to hear that 10 years from now, but I'm a little sad that I give the impression of a high school aged girl.

Now, lets talk about the Sound of Music. This movie is so legit. One of my all time favorite (maybe THE favorite) movies. I know every song by heart and have watched it probably hundreds of times. When I was little I used to spin around in the little field below our house pretending I was Maria singing "the hills are alive with the sound of music". Sound of Music for life y'all. Those shots of Austria and Salzburg at the beginning? TAKE ME THERE NOW. Captain von Trapp? You can whistle at me anytime. And Julie Andrews is such a boss. That voice! You go girl. Also I may or may not have seriously thought of naming my children (if I were to have any) after the von Trapp kids. Brigitta, Liesl, Marta and Gretl, SO CUTE! Is that weird? Yes. It is.

Champion muffins

These are the best blueberry muffins ever. I'm just going to go ahead and say it. And I made them. And I don't even like blueberries. The recipe is here, aptly called The Best Blueberry Muffins Recipe. The only thing I'd change would be the amount of blueberries. It calls for 2 and a half cups, I only used 2 cups because it was all I had, but it was also two cups of the biggest blueberries ever. But that's from someone who doesn't like blueberries, so you can disregard that statement. Oh and I only used a pinch of nutmeg in the topping, because I don't care too much for nutmeg. Disregard this also if you love nutmeg. Brendon is a fan.

My delish breakfast this morning. Check out those massive blueberries! HEB, your produce is impressive.

Also this morning Sophie has been insane. She has her crazy pants on for sure. She's been following me around the house, meowing, rolling around, and getting onto every surface she shouldn't be. She careened onto the bathroom counter this morning knocking down all my beauty supplies (aka deoderant and toothpaste), and she also was all over the kitchen counter investigating my breakfast photoshoot. Evidence:

What a freak! She's probably all riled up because this is the latest I've slept in ages. I got up at 10:27 y'all! That's a big accomplishment. Usually on my days off I get up at 8 something, and that's after a lot of tossing and turning. Today I forced myself to sleep in and thus, Sophie was bored.

Brendon starts pharmacy school in less than a week!!! Craziness. After all these years, it's finally happening! It seems like just yesterday we were researching schools that have pharmacy programs. And Brendon, the silly boy, put UT at the bottom of the list because he thought he couldn't get in. Obviously I convinced him otherwise, he applied and how wrong was he?! Can I brag for a second? Have I mentioned that he got into every school he applied to?! BAAAAHHH I'm so proud. And I am so excited for him to start school, but I think he's a little nervous. He has no reason to be, he's such a badass and a charmer and a genius. He's going to wreck shop and UT wont know what hit them. I am really super duper excited about him being close to me at work. Now we can hang out on breaks and after work/class on campus and I can pretend I'm a longhorn! Jk y'all. You know I'm a mean green eagle all the way. Speaking of which I want to check out that new stadium at UNT but I've heard the tickets are ridiculous. Guess they have to pay for it somehow. I think we're going to try to go to a longhorn game this fall. Hook 'em?
