Weird places my cats sleep

I know all cats are weird, but I feel like Sophie and Greg are especially strange. As the title of this post suggests, we are going to look back on a few odd places the cats have been lounging lately. Forgive the iphone pics, gotta catch this nonsense on the fly.

On my sewing patterns. While I'm trying to cut them out. These things are made of the thinnest easiest to tear paper ever and homegirl likes to get all comfy on them. She also likes to much on them.

Under pharmacy school notes. Both cats have been obsessed lately with being on Brendon's desk while he's studying. So he decided to just use Greg as a stand to better see his notes. Greg didn't seem to mind.

In Brendon's shorts (that were in the living room??? and those are definitely not my 46 pairs of socks on the floor....). I came out of the office one day to find her stretched out in his shorts. I laughed, a lot. I guess she was missing her daddy.

In the closet, in Brendon's underwear drawer. This is Greg's all time favorite place to sleep. If you can't find Greg, he's probably snoozin' with Brendon's unmentionables.

On the coffee table, amidst a bunch of crap, on my jacket. This is where she is sleeping currently. What a weirdo, and yes our cats have bad manners and get on the coffee table. Look at that bee-otch look she's giving me.

With each other. This is weird because Sophie usually cannot stand Greg. Like fairly often she slaps him in the face when he comes near. So when we find them sleeping together it's a big deal. Usually I think she just uses him for warmth, but this was on a pretty hot day so she has no excuse. AND HOW CUTE ARE THEY?!

Even though they have an abundance of cat beds, they chose to sleep elsewhere. Other weird places include: on plastic bags, on any sort of papers, inside reusable shopping bags, on my printer, in cabinets, in the sink, and sometimes if we're lucky, in our laps. Jk, they like to sit on us, we're warm! Winter time is a comin' and that means we have to share the bed with two fat cats who use us for warmth. The things we do for these weirdos..

I am a sleepy head!

I have been a lazy blogger this week. Actually, I've been a lazy everything. I've just been so sleepy lately. No matter how much I sleep I get, I'm always tired. As my dad would say, I've got the "sleeping sickness".

I finished my dress for the Renaissance Festival today. Details and pictures to come soon! Just need to make my mom's dress and my sister's, if she decides to go, and I will be done with Scottish gear. Then I've got a Halloween costume idea brewing in my head. And you know what that means, it's probably going to happen. Endless sewing projects! Keep 'em coming!

Mr. H and his buddies are having a study session at the kitchen table currently. The stuff they're studying is insane. I catch bits and pieces of it and I'm just like whaaaa? Craziness. While they are studying, me and Greg are cuddling and pretending to be doing something productive.

He is so sweet! My little cuddle buddy. I'd be so lonely without these cats. What a crazy cat lady thing for me to say! Sheesh.

Tailgatin'

Today for work I got to tailgate at the UT game and give out frosty samples of our ice blendeds. It was fun! It was very hot, but there was this wicked breeze and luckily we were in the shade. Traffic wasn't nearly as bad as I thought either. It was a little nuts at a couple points (people just walk down the middle of the street, apparently UT fans are not afraid of being hit by cars), but really much better than I imagined. It was a neat experience, there were soooo many people there. It was like a Cowboy's game or something. Probably even crazier. I want actually go in and watch a game sometime. We drove by the stadium and it looks so intense all filled up. Even my little cynical self was feeling some team spirit.

So to counteract my desire to attend a football game, let's talk about something that irks me about UT. From my short time working by campus, from what I've gathered via Brendon, and my tailgating experience today, I've come to a conclusion about UT students: everyone likes to match. Dressing the same is a "thing" at UT, like an unofficial dress code. Girls and boys are both guilty of this, but girls do the bulk of it. The most interesting matching phenomenons are: cowboy boots and shorts/skirts/dresses and the nike running shorts with baggy t-shirts. I encountered the former today for the first time and was pretty astounded. I think it must be a football game thing because almost every single girl was sporting cowboy boots. Don't get me wrong, I love me some cowboy boots every now and then, but it was super hot and all these girls are wearing boots. With shorts/dresses. And walking long distances too. Their feet must hate them afterwards. And everyone has these burnt orange t-shirt material dresses (some of which are not cute, some aren't too bad). Matchy, matchy, matchy. And the nike running shorts baggy t-shirt combo is my biggest pet peeve. It drives me crazy. Sooo many girls wear this everyday on campus. I will see seriously like 8 of them walking together and all wearing the same thing in different color variations. Do they realize they're all dressed the same? You know those girls don't run. And it is not a flattering ensemble. Plus those shorts are not cheap, how can they afford so many pairs?? (daddy's money) I could go on for years about how much this bugs me and how silly it is. It makes no sense.

Buuut, I guess I can't really talk because I basically live in the same four sundresses, denim shorts, and v-neck t-shirts. We all could use with a little mixing up of our wardrobes. But at least I'm not trying to coordinate with my amigos. I think that went out of style in 2nd grade.

Last night Brendon tried to teach me some pharmacy school stuff. He was drawing amino acid formulas and trying to get me to guess them. What? I barely even know what an amino acid is. He's so smart it scares me sometimes.

Sorry for the lack of pictures lately, I've been a lazy blogger. I've just been such a sleepy head this past week. All I think about is sleeping. Mmmm my bed sounds like a good place to be right now.

So long August!

Hello September! I hope you bring us good things and cooler weather. August was a fun month but I'm ready to see it go. I sweat a lot, opened the new store, Brendon started pharmacy school, and we watched a lot of movies on the couch. Time seems to be going by slowly and quickly at the same time. We've only been in Austin three months but it seems like it's been much longer. And what an interesting few months it's been! So many things turned out not at all how we planned, but I'm loving it. Austin, I guess you are growing on me.

Oh and the husband started a blog! I think he started to have blog envy and decided to create one of his own. He's documenting his pharmacy school experience. Check it out! No promises on how often he'll update, but it should be interesting.

Today after I got off work and Brendon got out of class we ventured into the Co-op (it's a UT store?) to get a UT shirt for me for work. That place is insane. I've never seen so much burnt orange in my life. UT is seriously into itself. They have UT everything. Even grilling supplies. And the bad news is I look pretty terrible in orange.

After venturing into the wild jungle of burnt orange we went into this little place called Varsity Bar that's on top of a pizza place to grab a beer. They have $1 (ONE DOLLAR) Lone Star pints during happy hour. $1!! That's insane! We totally found our new place to chill after class/work. And you can't smoke in bars or restaurants in Austin, hallelujah. There is absolutely nothing worse than coming home smelling like an ash tray. So gross.

I am sleepy. I plan on going to bed tonight verrrry early because 4:15am will be here before I know it. I apologize for the lack of interesting things in this post, the content will be more entertaining next time I promise (maybe not).

Pen Pals

Doctors visit wasn't so bad. My new doctor seems down to earth and very interested in my situation. We talked for a good while about everything which was nice, since usually I feel like doctors want you in and out as quickly as possible. I've got a new medicine to try and another appointment in 3 weeks. Hopefully we are making progress!

No joke, last night we went to bed at 8:30. Poor Brendon was such a sleepy baby! It's been such a long and stressful week for both of us, although way more so for him than me. He has so much on his plate right now, it's insane. We got a good 12 hours of sleep and then this morning we got up and went to eat at Magnolia Cafe on South Congress. And it was amazing. I'm a sucker for good breakfast food. My dad and step mom had recommended this place and it definitely delivered. And on the weekends they have brunch mimosa specials. I'm so there.

Sooooo lets be pen pals y'all. Are you in?

A big thanks to my iPhone and the hipstamatic ap for making my supplies look all vintagey and cool.

My sweet friend Christine got me this cute stationary as a going away present! She is the best. I received a letter from her this week, I was sooo excited. Remember when you were younger and writing letters to your friends was the norm? Let's bring it back! Seriously, lets be pen pals! Let me know if you're interested and I will write you! And you can write me! And maybe I'll draw you a picture too (no promises on anything fantastic though). Lets make it happen!

Sick and tired

Jeeze I am beat. Between my body attempting to commit mutiny and consistently getting up before the butt crack of dawn, I am physically and mentally exhausted. I love me some morning shifts but damn, I can't wait to sleep in this weekend. I open the store tomorrow and then it's sleep fest 2011 for the next few days.

Actually before I can get my sleep on, I have a doctors appointment after work tomorrow. Have I told you that I'm not a huge fan of doctors? Seriously y'all. I'm nervous. It's a new doctor and I have to give my schpeel on what's wrong with me. Again. And Brendon is not going with me. He usually accompanies me to the doctor because I'm a weenie and he's a sweetheart. He's also good at saying what I wont. He says I have a tendency to make things seem like not a big deal when they are. So tomorrow I've got to man up and tell this new doc whats up. And hopefully she'll fix me, or at least make an honest effort. And be nice to me. My last stomach specialist seemed to not give an eff about what was wrong with me, which was not cool because she was not cheap. In an effort to save moola I'm just seeing a family doctor tomorrow. I don't really have high hopes. I've been on a gazillion medicines and had bunches of tests, I seem to be unfixable. Where's Dr. House when you need him? But, let's be optimistic. Maybe she'll have the answer. Cross your fingers for me tomorrow y'all, I'm tired of feeling like poo. I want to have a normal functioning body, what's that like?

Also, I have a feeling I'm not going to see my husband much until December. Pharmacy school = your whole life. Buh. This week has been rough. I need to keep thinking positive.
