Nutcrackin'

As an early Christmas gift, the extra sweet Mr. H surprised me with tickets to the Nutcracker Ballet! I married such a winner. We went last night and had a blast. We pregamed on South Congress with some delish burgers at Hopdoddy (if you are ever in Austin and in the mood for a good burger, this is the place to go), fries, and beer of course. I also made the mistake of going into a vintage clothing store and trying on the cutest (and unfortunately pretty pricey) little black dress EVER. It had a big satin bow on the collar, I was in love. But we couldn't justify dropping a bunch of money on a dress so I had to say farewell. That dress will be haunting my dreams. BUT I did get a very cute plaid vintage skirt for $5!

After wandering around South Congress we headed on out to see the Nutcracker and it was AWESOME! I love ballet and the orchestra was soundin' legit. It was very entertaining. Brendon had never seen the Nutcracker (or probably any ballet) before, I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did!

Does that pale ass hand belong to a dead person?
It's always fun to dress up and do something fancy! We love pretending we're super classy. I got a chance to wear my holiday dress again and Brendon got to sport his new pea coat. He looked like such a gentleman! He reminds me of Mr. Darcy when he dresses up. So dashing!

In other news, my body is tired. Yesterday I got up at 4:20am for work and went to bed around midnight, I think. That's like 20 hours of being awake and going pretty much nonstop. Phew! Getting up for work this morning was hard, but oh well, I'll sleep when I'm dead! There's just so much to do and so little time!

Greg cuddles

Greg is, most likely, the most cuddly and affectionate cat in the entire world. He LOVES to cuddle. With me in particular. In fact as I am typing, he is snoozing on me pretty much just like picture above. He is a cuddling machine. It's sweet, but also a tad annoying. Also, hazardous for black clothing. ALSO, hazardous for your skin because Greg happens to be high strung as hell. The other night we were chillin', watching tv or something, Greg was curled up on my chest, not unlike this:

Obviously chillin' like a villian. SOMEONE's got it made.

Anywho, so Greg is basically living on my chest and we're just hanging out as a happy little family. Then freakin' out of absolutely NO WHERE he flips shit and FLINGS himself into the wall behind the couch and then flies off to who knows where. In a matter of milliseconds. And where does he get the traction for this crazy maneuver? MY SKIN Y'ALL. My chest, side, and armpit to be exact. This is why he is so cute. Because if he were not, he would be long gone. That shit hurt. Remember that time one of the cats jumped on my head? Pretty sure it was Greg. That cat has issues. He's lucky he's so good looking and so sweet.

What's that? You want to see more crummy webcam pics of me and Greg? Oh how perfect, I have some right here!

Here's Greg headbutting me. He likes to head butt to show how much he loves you. And that's the old couch he tore to pieces. Literally.

Here's Greg getting some kisses. He LOVES kisses. A lot. And hey, it's me with bangs and short hair!

Here's Greg after a rough day at the office. Obviously he has a really hard life. Sometimes it's just too much for him to handle.

Here's Greg when he was a kitten, a little too scared to cuddle yet. He was soooo shy at first. The first day we had him he hid under the bed the entire time until we fell asleep. We woke up to him purring and snuggling in between us. And that's where it all began. Who knew we had adopted the sweetest little kitty in the world? He was a totally different color then, so much lighter. He was (and still is, although he's now a chunky monkey) SO CUTE. And my hair was black at the time. Not so cute.

And because I feel we aren't showing Sophie enough love today:

Here's Sophie curled up in my lap. She can be sweet too. Every now and then... when she wants to be.

Also, I felt I needed to share this picture with you:

Yes, that is a cat butt. Sophie's in fact. Found this gem while looking for pictures of Greg gettin' all up on me. YES I take a bunch of pictures of myself with my cats, so what? Does that make me weird? Maybe (yes). Do I care? NOPE.

Thanks for stopping by the crazy cat lady blog y'all. I swear, the next post will contain no cats. Maybe.

Old farts

Just a little insight into our lives 50 years down the road. It could be more like 5 years, we do go to bed super early and have a love for high waisted sweat pants. That last part is only partially true. Maybe.

Excuse Brendon's floss face. I promise he doesn't look like that all the time, but his teeth are beautiful. Also, excuse our lovely mirror. Electric toothbrushes are toothpaste spraying weapons in my hands.

Holiday movies!

It's that time! Time to talk about my favorite festive films to get you into the holiday spirit! This list isn't that long, these are just a few we've watched recently. But basically if it has anything remotely Christmas related, I'm probably game.

Elf. I am usually not a big Will Ferrell fan at all, but I love this movie. I refused to watch it for a reeeeally long time, and then I think Brendon forced me to watch it one year and I fell in love. I mean come on, when everyone in the city sings "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and their Christmas spirit makes the sleigh fly? I tear up every time. "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!"

How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Some people are die hard about the cartoon and hate this version but whatev. I like it. I like Jim Carrey. And Whoville is freakin' adorable, can I move there please?

Edward Scissorhands. Okay I lied, we haven't watched this one too recently. We watched it over the summer, but I usually like to watch it around the holidays. Yeah it's a little creepy, but the ending takes place during the Christmas. Plus the soundtrack? Probably one of my favorite ever.

Harry Potter. Preferably all of them watched in sequence. They aren't technically holiday movies, but to me they have that holiday vibe (Hogwarts covered in snow? yes please). We just finished them up last night, and I bawled through the Deathly Hallows Part 2 just like I did the first time. And woke up with puffy ass eyes this morning. Thanks HP, I'm sure all my coffee patrons really enjoyed looking at my haggard face today. But seriously, HARRY POTTER FOR LIFE YOU GUYS. Always.

I feel like as gung-ho as I am about Christmas, I should have more movies to offer you guys, but that's it. I haven't seen as many as you'd think. For example, Brendon just bought me a Christmas Story and is going to make me watch it, because I have never seen it. Shocking, I know. I hear it's a classic.

Now go watch/read some Harry Potter and sip some hot cocoa. Your life will thank you.

Catch up, ketchup!

Ketchup is disgusting and I am scared of it. It's just not right. I accidentally ate a tiny little smidge on a fry the other day and almost hurled. But enough about gross red goop, lets get down to brass tacks. I have been slacking as a blogger lately. Life has been getting in the way I suppose, but still. I think I've just been lazy. I apologize internet! Forgive me?

Brendon finished up his first semester of pharmacy school Tuesday, thank goodness. One semester down. And he did so well in all of his classes! Have I told you how proud of him I am? JEEZE, that man is amazing. And SO smart. Scary smart. We went out for sushi, and for Brendon a lot of sake bombs, with a few people that night to celebrate. And then Brendon fell asleep at 9:15pm. I can't blame him, these last weeks were brutal on him, if I were him I'd sleep for like three days straight. I don't know how he does it. He is seriously my hero.

We finished up our Christmas shopping yesterday. BOOYA. This is a big achievement for me because I am always that person frantically shopping for gifts on Christmas Eve, every year. But not this year! We are DONE son. Knocked that nonsense out. Take that procrastination! They're even wrapped already. I know, I'm even a little shocked.

Life at the new store is good so far. I haven't royally screwed anything up yet (or broken/spilled anything major) so that's good. It's very different but I think I'm going to like it a lot. Plus without traffic it takes me 7 minutes to get to work. So lovely. However, in traffic is another story.

This was my lovely drive home today. I know, I know, taking photos while driving isn't safe. But lets be real y'all, I was stopped. Just like everyone else on 35.

Austin is pretending it's Forks (ooo Twilight reference), it has been raining for like weeks. Naturally Ausinites don't know how to drive in the rain, so traffic is absolutely terrible. It took me 40 minutes to go 6 miles today. WTF?

Sorry this post was mainly about nothing, I hustled hard all day for that cash so I'm a seriously sleepy head. I promise to post something substantial soon. Like... maybe... my favorite holiday movies! Because I know you're all dying to know what we've been watching while our bodies become one with the couch. Oh couch, how we love you.
