Easter 2016
Easter! Indiana's first, obviously. We tried to get her to dye some eggs, but she wasn't interested. She did get a very cute floppy bunny from her Nana though! I foresee these two being buddies.
Cool thing alert, that blanket she's laying on was one of my baby blankets. There are pictures of me as a newborn in that thing! I think one of my great-grandmas made it, there's another white one too. So neat to use these for my baby!
That photo is kinda blurry, but I just can't handle that sweet face!
And as is tradition, egg dying! Although I just realized if the Easter Bunny is going to be hiding these eggs for a certain someone we're going to have to start dying them a day earlier!
I know I've talked about how much Indiana loves her daddy, but here's proof:
Is that baby not in love with her daddy?? I swear, she saves those looks for him. I'm going to have trouble on my hands with those two.
We did a "24 Carrot" egg dying kit this year. The gold stuff was mostly a pain, it was all sticky and bubbly. Maybe just regular eggs next year.
Typical Easter. Dye eggs. Take a few pictures with them. Peel those suckers. Devil 'em. Eat too many. And we tried to take an Easter selfie, but selfies with a baby are challenging! This is as good as it got:
We need to work on Indy's selfie game. But blurry or not, I still love it! Hope you guys had a great Easter if you celebrate!
Easter through the years, they're all pretty much exactly the same. Old habits die hard. Or should I say DYE hard. Har har har.

Eggster 2015
EASTER! If you have been around the blog long enough, this is the same old song and dance. Though we are not celebrators of Easter in any traditional sense, we (I? I think Brendon just goes along with it.) love dying some eggs and do so every year. Except this year, we got real fancy and bought a kit. We got a "tie-dye" kit, which made me feel a little like a fool (it was harder than I thought, how would kids get that nonsense?) but once we got the hang of it, it was lots of fun. And they came out cool!
So, as is tradition, here is our Eggster!
And the best part about dying eggs... immediately busting them up and making deviled eggs. And tater tots? NO JUDGING.
If you'd like to see the exact same thing, featuring slightly younger versions of ourselves, here is Eggster 2014, 2013, and 2012. I'm even wearing the same sweater last year. So predictable.

Easter 2014
HOPPY belated Easter! See what I did there? Clever girl. Mr. Hogan and I both worked, nothing new, and as per tradition, we dyed eggs, admired them for two minutes, and then peeled and ate them. Deviled of course. This has been going on for years. YEARS. I can't remember when we didn't do this. I remember dying eggs and giggling late at night in our tiny kitchen in Denton wearing bunny ears. The same ones I wore yesterday.
We were kind of on top of it this year, meaning that we at least had the whole rainbow of dye to choose from. However, we definitely bought eggs the day before and left them in our car for 6 hours. So I was that girl, at Walmart on Easter, buying eggs. I was at Walmart because HEB is closed for Easter, because they're nice. I hate Walmart.
SOPHIE! She hasn't graced the blogs presence in a while, so here she is, in all her majesty.
These eggs might look kind of MEH, but they're actually the prettiest we've made in a while. Sad, I know, but that's what you get without an egg dying kit. We do it the old fashioned way.
I have a thing with these kinds of pictures. I think it's like, here, let me hide my face with something so I don't have to worry about looking decent.
Typical Easter in the Hogan household! So typical, that the posts from 2013 and 2012 are eerily similar. Except I'm cuter back then. Fun fact, this blog celebrated it's three year birthday this month. WOOOO!
Usually the next step for Easter related things for us would be to raid the Easter aisle at CVS for clearance candy. However, we are attempting to give up packaged candy, so merp, none of that. Maybe. We don't celebrate Easter at all, aside from this, but this year I really had a hankering for an Easter egg hunt. Why don't adults partake in this? Why do the humans under 4 feet get to have all the fun? Another reason to reproduce? Or not to?

Eggster
Did you guys have a fabulous Easter? We don't really celebrate, but Brendon and I enjoyed the day off together and embarked on our one tradition, dying eggs and then immediately busting them up and deviling them. And eating them. Obviously.
It was slim pickins this year as far as color choices went. I completely forgot that we used most of our food coloring last year so we were just left with green, some blue, and a drop or two of yellow. So green was the theme. Gooooo Slytherin! Hopefully sometime between now and next Easter I'll remember we need more food coloring. Maybe I'll get wild and get a kit!
Creepy much? Don't mind the headphones, our gift from the Easter Bunny was someone hacking our Walmart.com account (why we even have one, I have no idea) and buying some prepaid cell phone plan. So we spent a good chunk of our day on the phone with Wally World, our bank, and the po-lice. Easter surprise!
Hey! Here's what my tiny kitchen really looks like, crap everywhere. I try to avoid the clutter in the food post pics. BUT NOW YOU KNOW THE TRUTH.
Damn I love deviled eggs. I loosely based these guys on Deb's recipe. Emphasis on the loosely, because I sure didn't have anchovies lying around. Although her method of boiling eggs is on point, this is the second batch I've done this way. They peel like champs and the yolks are perfect.
And I leave you with this:
See ya next year Easter! Try to fall in April okay? This March thing is weird.

Easter!
As we aren't religious folks, Mr. H and I don't celebrate Easter traditionally (we both usually spend the day at work, tryin' to get that time and a half y'all!), but we (I) do like to dye eggs. We do it every year and this year was no exception!
I know there are all kinds of fancy egg dying kits out there, but we stick to the food coloring, vinegar, and hot water method. Mostly because usually we do this last minute, late at night.
We drew all kinds of things on them with white crayon, only to pull them out of the dye and find our drawings/messages had disappeared! So sad, that's never happened before. Damn you crayola! You let us down! Such a bummer, it's always so fun to find out what each other wrote/drew. Oh well, we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless!
I sported some bunny ears for the occasion.
And as tradition, after a few minutes of enjoying our master pieces we busted them open,

Lot's of giggling, of course.
Sophie got in on the bunny ear action. Doesn't she look pleased?
Message-less eggs. Sad, sad, sad. We summed up our messages and drawings and relayed them verbally, but it just wasn't the same. At least they're pretty colors! Except for that greyish one... not sure what's going on there (I tried, and failed, to make purple).
And as tradition, after a few minutes of enjoying our master pieces we busted them open,
and made deviled eggs!
Someone (I'll give you a hint, it wasn't me) forgot the mayo at work, so I had to improvise with the filling. Turns out olive oil is a good (and probably healthier) substitute! They were yummy and we ate them quickly. Good food never lasts long around us.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter doing Eastery things. And I hope the Easter bunny was good to you! He visited us this weekend via Brendon's momma and we scored a giant basket of candy and goodies. Our teeth will most likely fall out by the end of the week, but it will be worth it.
